The OPP, working alongside the Peterborough Police Service, have made arrests as part of a continuing drug trafficking investigation.
In July 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began looking into individuals thought to be involved in the sale of controlled substances.
On August 26, OPP officers detained two people in Englehart who were found with about 125 grams of suspected cocaine.
Search warrants were also carried out at several locations in North Kawartha Township, the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, and the Township of Selwyn.
During these searches, police confiscated suspected cocaine, around 1.8 kilograms of suspected marijuana, additional cannabis products, cell phones, and items linked to transaction records. Several firearms and handgun ammunition were also taken.
Jomo Frederick (39) from the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan faces charges for:
– Possession with intent to distribute cannabis
– Possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking – cocaine
– Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
Cameron Edwards (22) from Peterborough is charged with:
– Possession of a Schedule I substance for trafficking – cocaine
Both individuals are being held on bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Two more individuals were arrested after searching an address in the Township of Selwyn.
Kassandra Immings (35) from the Township of Selwyn has been charged with:
– Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – three counts
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm – six counts
– Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in October.
Shawn Edwards (51) from the Township of Selwyn has been charged with:
– Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – three counts
– Unauthorized possession – six counts
The custody was transferred over to Peterborough police for this accused.
