Two individuals have been charged in relation to a shooting incident in downtown Kitchener.
According to police, a 30-year-old man from Kitchener sustained gunshot wounds in the vicinity of Scott Street and King Street E., adjacent to the Market Square building, at approximately 9 p. m. on January 28.
The injured man was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
After executing two search warrants on Tuesday, officers from Waterloo regional police have charged both men involved in this case.
A 28-year-old male from Kitchener faces a total of 12 charges including careless handling of a firearm, firing a weapon with intent, and making threats of death or bodily harm.
The second suspect, a 25-year-old man also from Kitchener, has been charged with three offenses: assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and robbery involving a firearm.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing according to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
