A special weather statement has been issued for Hamilton and Burlington as heavy rain is predicted for both cities on Tuesday.

According to Environment Canada, residents can expect between 10-20 mm of rain on Tuesday morning.

The statement mentioned that previous rainfall has already saturated the ground, which will make it harder for the soil to absorb more water today. This could lead to water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas.

Environment Canada suggests that anyone worried about flooding should reach out to their local Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

There’s also a chance of thunderstorms in both cities, which might bring even heavier rainfall, according to the statement.

After a break in rain later today, it is expected that showers and thunderstorms could pick up again overnight, with another wave of heavy rain possibly hitting parts of the region on Wednesday.
