It’s been quite a year (and a bit) for a well-known Thai restaurant that has quickly transformed from a neighborhood favorite into a two-story, three-in-one venue: one that’s eager to broaden its presence even more.

Recently, the team behind Pii Nong, the spacious 10,000-square-foot Midtown spot featuring a 120- to 130-seat dining area, a Thai market, and an upstairs spa, shared on social media their intentions to open another location in a town outside Toronto soon.

“Tell us in the comments which Ontario town or city you’d love to see us in next,” the team playfully asked on Instagram.

The answer? Oakville.

While they haven’t disclosed an exact opening date yet, a representative from Pii Nong told INsauga. com that they plan to launch the new spot in the spring. It will be situated in the charming downtown area at 266 Lakeshore Rd. E.

This news about their latest location follows closely after the expected 2024 opening of their flagship site at Yonge and Lawrence. Before this expansion, Pii Nong operated out of a smaller venue on Bayview Avenue in Leaside, which they’ve now revamped into Chon Modern Thai Cuisine.

Since launching the Midtown restaurant, head chef and co-owner Pii “Nana” Nong has received accolades for her street food-inspired dishes.

Cofounder Tom Ha divides his time between Pii Nong and the revitalized Saigon Star-a Richmond Hill landmark that recently underwent significant renovations after serving customers for over forty years-previously mentioned to INsauga. com that they created their flagship location after brainstorming about starting “something so insane, so crazy, so big that people would be like, ‘Are you sure you can pull this off?’”

While it remains uncertain if Pii Nong’s Oakville branch will offer more than just dining experiences, it’s gained attention for its extensive menu featuring classic Thai dishes (pad Thai, pad kee mao, pad see ew and khao soi are just some examples) along with unique items like Thai pong karee crab, soft shell crab curry, basil chili paste clams and a crying tiger steak made with beef tenderloin marinated in sweet oyster sauce and served with sticky rice and cilantro.

The restaurant is also famous for its Instagram-worthy teddy bear drinks (available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options), featuring either mango juice or milk tea alongside adorable frozen teddies.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the new location coming soon.
