WHITBY – Authorities in Whitby, Ont., report that a woman has passed away after being struck by a car.

Durham Regional Police stated they received a call about the incident at the intersection of Brock Street North and Mary Street West on Friday afternoon.

The 82-year-old woman was attempting to cross the road when she was hit by a vehicle.

She was transported to a trauma center in Toronto with severe injuries but later succumbed to them.

According to police, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and authorities are encouraging anyone who has video footage of the incident to come forward.
