This summer, London International Airport is gearing up for a significant increase in flights.

The airport located in southwestern Ontario announced that overall service will nearly double compared to previous seasons.

On Wednesday, it unveiled its Summer 2026 schedule, which heavily features expanded services from Air Canada and West Jet. This includes more frequent flights and new routes designed to enhance both domestic and international travel options.

Air Canada plans to operate five daily flights connecting London with Toronto Pearson International Airport, using jet aircraft instead of smaller turboprops. The airline will employ Embraer 175 planes, which come with a business-class section and are generally viewed as more comfortable for travelers.

Scott Mc Fadzean, the airport CEO, mentioned that transitioning to all-jet service should boost reliability and simplify connections for passengers traveling globally through Toronto.

“These additional flights strengthen our connectivity, help improve reliability and make it easier than ever for travelers in Southwestern Ontario to reach destinations across Canada and around the world,” said Mc Fadzean.

West Jet is also increasing its operations by offering up to three daily flights between London and Calgary – the highest frequency seen on this route so far. Additionally, they’ll launch new service to Winnipeg three times per week.

This increased capacity comes as part of larger shifts within Canada’s airline industry. Carriers are reworking routes and enhancing services in response to strong demand trends. Recently, West Jet has been focusing more on domestic travel as well as routes within western Canada while reducing service in some eastern regions due to rising fuel costs.

The summer schedule spans from May 1 through October 31.
