The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has sent out gaming revenue payments for the fourth quarter to municipalities with casinos.

This includes Point Edward and Sarnia.

The village will receive $380,504 for hosting Starlight Casino Point Edward.

In the OLG’s latest fiscal year, which wrapped up on March 31, Point Edward has received $1,578,417.

Since the casino opened in April 2000, the village has been given a total of $55,491,363.

On the other hand, Sarnia is getting $79,748 for hosting Gateway Casinos Sarnia.

During OLG’s fiscal year, Sarnia has received $358,221, bringing its total to $28,413,977 since May of 1999.

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey shared his thoughts on this funding.

“OLG shares revenues with host gaming municipalities to help them invest in local priorities, including community services and infrastructure,” said Bailey. “These payments are part of our government’s commitment to support municipalities and to protect what matters most – those critical services families rely on.”

The funds given to host communities are calculated using a formula that is consistently applied across all gaming locations in Ontario based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue at each site.

The OLG stated that these payments follow a formula consistently used across all gaming venues in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at each hosted site.

Since 1994, host communities have received nearly $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
