A man from St. Thomas, aged 65, has been taken into custody after being accused of assaulting a teenage driver in what appears to be a road rage incident earlier this week, according to St. Thomas police.
Officers found the suspect and arrested him on Wednesday, which was also the day police revealed he was wanted under an arrest warrant for charges including assault, assault causing bodily harm, careless driving, and uttering threats.
It’s claimed that the man followed a car into a parking lot on the city’s south side on Tuesday afternoon, got out of his vehicle, and attacked the other driver, who is a 16-year-old resident of St. Thomas.
According to police reports, surveillance footage recorded the event and showed him leaving the scene at high speed while nearly colliding with two individuals.
The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed. Police indicated that he was brought to headquarters on Wednesday and held there for a court hearing scheduled for Thursday morning.
