A head-on crash on Highway 21, just south of Port Elgin, has resulted in one fatality on Tuesday.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident involving an SUV and a pickup truck shortly before 5:30 p. m. on March 31, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Port Elgin is located on Lake Huron, south of Owen Sound.
Authorities reported that the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional information about the individual has been released.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital with injuries that have not yet been specified, as per OPP updates.
Highway 21 was closed for an investigation between Bruce Road 40 and Concession 2.
This marks the second deadly incident in the area on Tuesday. A separate collision involving a transport truck and an SUV in Norwich Township, east of London, led to three fatalities and two individuals being hospitalized.
Investigators are urging residents and businesses, as well as drivers, to review their security cameras or dash cam footage for any recordings related to the crash or vehicles involved.
