A corrections officer from Mississauga has been taken into custody after an investigation into contraband at a prison located in Milton, Ontario.

According to Halton Regional Police, charges were laid following a lengthy investigation at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex.

The inquiry centered on a guard who allegedly brought prohibited items into the facility.

“As a result of the investigation, on March 19, 2026, Adrian Deonarine (33) of Mississauga, was charged with one count of Breach of Trust by Public Officer,” said police.

Deonarine has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Milton at a later date.

The police continue to look into this matter and urge anyone with information to reach out to them at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416.
