A tragic tent fire in St. Catharines has been classified as a homicide.
The blaze was spotted by police while they were patrolling the Glendale Avenue area, who noticed flames in a wooded section of Mountain Locks Park on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 3:15 a. m., according to the Niagara Regional Police Service.
The significant fire involved a tent in a forested area. St. Catharines Fire Services responded and extinguished the flames, discovering the body of a man.
Authorities announced today that this incident has been ruled as homicide. The investigation is now being handled by the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit, with support from the 1 District Detective office and Forensic Services Unit.
The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Kenneth Dombroskie, who did not have a permanent residence.
