A man from Burlington is facing several charges after being seen driving the wrong way on the QEW following a collision.

The Ontario Provincial Police reported that a grey sedan was spotted heading in the opposite direction in the Fort Erie-bound lanes of the highway near Third Line in Oakville shortly after 7 p. m. on Wednesday.

Initially, police said the driver was going the right way when he collided with a tractor-trailer near Third Line.

Leaving behind his vehicle’s bumper and licence plate at the crash site, the driver fled in the wrong direction along the shoulder for about two kilometres before exiting at Kerr Street, according to police.

The car was found parked near Dorval Drive and Kerr Street in Oakville.

No injuries were reported from this incident.

A 26-year-old man from Burlington has been located and charged with impaired driving, having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, failing to stop after an accident, and driving without insurance.

The driver is set to appear in court on May 4 in Milton.
