With heavy hearts, we share the news of our dear mother, Angela Vorkapich, who peacefully passed away at the age of 86 on February 27, 2026. She is now with her loving husband, Mike, after sharing 62 wonderful years together.
Angela was born on August 21, 1939, to Steve and Smilja Daich. She was a devoted mother to Steve (Mary), Patricia Makaric (Brian), Millicent Hill (Jim), Nada Orshinsky (Dave), and Mike (Michele). As a Baba, she adored her grandchildren: Tyler; Brock (Arielle) and Brianna (Jeremy) Makaric; James, Steven, and Meghan Hill; Nicholas (Sara), Alexander (Jordanne), and Matthew Orshinsky; along with Michael, Edward, and Angelina Vorkapich.
She was predeceased by her brother Gojko (Ljubica) Daich and her brother-in-law Steve (Millie) Vorkapich. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends will deeply miss her.
Angela loved sharing her cooking skills with visitors or anyone needing comfort. Her apple strudel, pies, walnut torte, apple squares, soup, kolac, and especially her warm homemade krofne brightened many gatherings. Whether she was in the kitchen or at her sewing machine, Angela had a special talent for making every moment-a happy one or a sad one-a little brighter.
Her greatest joy came from raising her children and showering love on her grandchildren. Baking cookies together or reading storybooks while curled up on the couch were moments she treasured deeply. To Angela, time spent with her grandchildren was not just joyful-it was truly the sweetest gift.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated caregivers for their kindness and support.
A visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7235) on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 2-5 p. m. and again from 7-9 p. m. Prayers will be offered at 8 p. m. A funeral service is set for Saturday March 7th at Grachanica Serbian Orthodox Church (1960 Meldrum Road) at 10 a. m., followed by interment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
If you wish to honor Angela’s memory further donations may be made to Grachanica Serbian Orthodox Church or to any charity of your choice.
