The Ontario government has announced a funding package of over $7.3 million aimed at supporting businesses in Windsor-Essex affected by U. S. tariffs.
Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli revealed the funding on Wednesday during an event in Windsor.
Eight local businesses will benefit from the Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF), which will help them expand their capabilities or bring critical supply chains back to Canada.
According to Fedeli, this support will enable these companies to leverage nearly $44 million for investments that are expected to create more than 65 new jobs and safeguard an additional 692 positions.
He mentioned that with advanced equipment and new product lines, these companies will be able to adjust production processes and broaden their customer bases.
“In turn increasing resilience, building capacity and re-shoring critical supply lines back here into Ontario,” he says.
The funding was first introduced as part of the 2025 Ontario Budget, specifically targeting small and medium-sized enterprises.
Fedeli highlighted that for generations, workers, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs in Windsor have played a vital role in shaping Ontario’s industrial economy.
“We look forward to seeing your investments that not only bolster Ontario’s manufacturing capacity but also ensure that our province remains competitive, resilient, and prosperous for generations to come,” he says.
