One particular person is in hospital with life-threatening accidents and three others are recovering after police say a pickup truck hit a horse and buggy within the Township of Perth East Sunday afternoon.

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say simply earlier than 4:30 p.m., police, paramedics, the Perth East Hearth Division and Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to a collision on Perth Street 116 close to Perth Line 72 close to the village of Wellesley.

Police mentioned a white pickup truck struck the horse and buggy, which had 4 passengers.

All passengers of the buggy had been critically injured and had been taken to an area trauma centre. One of many passengers was later moved to a different trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance for life-threatening accidents. The driving force of the pickup truck was not injured.

Police mentioned the horse fled from the scene following the collision and didn’t look like injured.

“Perth East has a large population of people who use horses and buggies,” Const. Evan Polini told in a phone interview. “It’s not uncommon to see them traveling in that area.”

Perth Street 116 was quickly closed for the investigation however has since been reopened.

Police say the investigation stays ongoing. Perth County OPP urges anybody who might have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage to name 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers.
