Update: At 10:50 a. m., the eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 at Neilson Road have reopened after a police investigation, according to the OPP.

Here’s what happened.

This morning, all express lanes on Highway 401 in Toronto were closed due to a crash.

The incident took place in the eastbound express lanes near Markham Road shortly after 6:30 a. m., as reported by the Ministry of Transportation’s 511 page.

By 7:15 a. m., the Ministry announced that all express lanes were shut down.

At 7:09 a. m., Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that all eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 were blocked at Neilson Road for an ongoing police investigation.

Authorities also mentioned that the left westbound express lane was closed as well.

“Motorists should plan alternate routes and expect delays if in the area,” advised the OPP.
