The voting stations in Toronto have closed, and we’re about to see the results come in.
After a busy few weeks of campaigning, several key races are set to be decided today. One of the most notable is Toronto’s mayoral race between current mayor Olivia Chow and her main opponent Brad Bradford.
In the final week, both candidates have been out daily trying to connect with undecided voters. Throughout the campaign, they haven’t held back in their exchanges, with Chow recently accusing Bradford of ignoring residents in his own ward while he was a city councillor. On the flip side, Bradford has claimed that Chow hasn’t tackled the city’s traffic and transit issues effectively.
Chow has made promises like helping to reduce grocery prices in the city, providing free lunches for students, and increasing affordable housing units. Meanwhile, Bradford has vowed to freeze property tax rates during his first year as mayor and eliminate the land transfer tax for homes priced under $1.1 million.

In nearby Mississauga, former mayor Bonnie Crombie is looking to reclaim her old position.
Crombie stepped down at the start of 2024 to lead the Ontario Liberal Party after winning a significant victory in the 2022 municipal election. She had served nearly ten years as Mississauga’s mayor following Hazel Mc Callion’s lengthy tenure of 36 years.

Crombie led her party to a third-place finish in the 2025 provincial elections despite them capturing around 30 percent of the popular vote.
She promised to remain as leader after bringing back official party status for the Liberals but didn’t manage to secure her own seat or any ridings within Mississauga. Crombie announced her resignation last September and officially left her role this January.
The current incumbent Carolyn Parrish has been leading Canada’s seventh-largest city since June 2024 and is now aiming for her first full term as mayor. Before winning a by-election for mayor, Parrish was on Mississauga’s city council for several years.
She also held roles as a member of Parliament and school board trustee before joining council.
This election day features well-known names on municipal ballots such as Patrick Brown who is running for his third term as Brampton’s mayor; Steven Del Duca seeking re-election as Vaughan’s mayor; and Andrea Horwath aiming for a second term in Hamilton after narrowly winning in 2022.
