Three trustees have been chosen to manage the property and oversee the operations of Sarnia Legion Branch 62.

Ontario Provincial Command Executive Director Pam Sweeny confirmed this decision with Sarnia News Today through email, explaining the reason behind it.

“This action is being taken as the current administration/executive have identified minimal engagement until the reinstatement of the branch president. This is for the general welfare of the branch,” Sweeny said.

When asked about how this will affect operations, Sweeny mentioned that branch officers will stay in their roles but their decision-making powers will be limited to what the trustees find suitable.

She stated that Chair Mark Rogers along with members Gabriele Janka and Caroline Mayo will serve as trustees for a period lasting up to 90 days, ending on January 12, 2027.

Sweeny confirmed that John Surins remains president.

Sarnia News Today was informed about the appointment of trustees after a Legion meeting last week, and members have since received written notice by mail.

Ron Realesmith was removed from his position as president of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 earlier this month while awaiting results from an Article Three complaint filed against him.
