Whitby is set to receive some provincial funding aimed at preserving the town’s history.
The Whitby Historical Society will get $1,545 from the provincial government’s nearly quarter million dollar investment that supports 180 heritage organizations throughout Ontario.
“Whitby’s history is an important part of what makes our Town so unique,” said Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services and the Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security. “Through this funding, our government is supporting the Whitby Historical Society’s efforts to preserve our local heritage and ensure that future generations can learn about the people, places and stories that have shaped our community.”
The funds are coming from the Heritage Organization Development Grant (HODG) program, which helps eligible heritage organizations deliver public programs, exhibits and tours making Ontario’s heritage accessible to residents and visitors.
