Chief Thai Truong mentioned that a criminal investigation is also set to begin since the video depicts a service weapon being stored under “circumstances that raise concerns.” This incident took place on June 24 in Toronto as officers were leaving a restaurant after attending a police funeral. On this day, they held a funeral for Toronto police Const. Marc Pinizzotto, who was shot and killed during a raid while looking into several shootings, including one at the U. S. Consulate. Truong stated that Toronto police will look into how the firearm was handled and stored. The chief confirmed that a senior officer has been suspended with pay, and the overall behavior of those involved will be reviewed once the criminal investigation wraps up.
