Costco is set to expand its presence in Ontario more than anticipated, with plans for seven new warehouses on the horizon.
The latest sites announced are in Belleville and Thunder Bay, bringing these projects into public discussion. The Thunder Bay store would be the first Costco in Northwestern Ontario, offering shoppers in that area a local option without needing to travel elsewhere in the province.
Currently, Ontario hosts 43 Costco locations, which include 38 standard warehouses and five Business Centres. The addition of seven new locations could greatly enhance the retailer’s reach, with projects at various phases from construction to municipal approvals.
The first two new warehouses are slated to open next month.
A new warehouse is being built in East Windsor on Catherine Street near Tecumseh Road East and Lauzon Parkway. Another location is under construction in Wasaga Beach at 345 Lyons Court, close to Highway 26 and Mosley Street. Both appear on Costco’s official list of openings scheduled for November.
Several other developments are projected for completion by 2027.
In Halton Hills, the council has approved a retail development anchored by Costco at Regional Road 25 and 5 Sideroad, near Milton. This project aims for an opening around October or November 2027, potentially providing another shopping option for those in Milton.
Oakville is preparing for a new Costco at the Rio Can Centre Burloak area, located near Wyecroft Road and Burloak Drive. This multi-level warehouse plans to feature underground parking along with a gas station. It has received final site plan approval, targeting an opening date of fall 2027.
A proposed commercial development in Caledon at 12100 Creditview Road near Mayfield Road will also include a Costco as its anchor tenant. This project could cater to shoppers from Caledon, Brampton, and nearby areas; however, it’s still undergoing planning review with no confirmed opening date yet.

The two newest additions are located in eastern and northwestern Ontario.
Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis announced plans back in July for a new Costco on Bell Boulevard. The project is estimated at about $37 million and will feature a warehouse measuring around 167,000 square feet along with an 8,000-square-foot gas station. Construction is expected to kick off in spring of 2027 with an opening aimed later that same year.
Meanwhile, Thunder Bay has submitted a building permit application for a proposed Costco situated at the southwest corner of Golf Links Road and Central Avenue near Innova Business Park. City officials state this application represents significant progress for what has been a long-term project. The city will need to assess the application before any permits can be issued.
This upcoming Thunder Bay warehouse would introduce Costco to Northwestern Ontario for the first time and could serve customers across a wide area where there hasn’t been a location before.
The seven planned projects vary widely in their stages of development; not every opening date has been finalized yet. Currently listed on Costco’s official website are East Windsor and Wasaga Beach set for November 2026 while other timelines depend on municipal announcements and reported schedules.
If you’re waiting for a closer warehouse option, this updated expansion list indicates that Costco’s growth throughout Ontario might reach even more communities than initially thought.
