A man is facing more charges after rocks were thrown at moving vehicles on a roadway in Ontario once again.
The rocks were thrown near Highway 406 and Glendale Avenue in St. Catharines on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
One individual has been charged in connection with this incident.
Ammar Al-Zubaidi, a 49-year-old resident of St. Catharines, was charged with two counts of mischief endangering life and one count of breach of recognizance.
Al-Zubaidi is currently in custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Oct. 14.
This marks the second occasion that police have looked into this type of behavior in Niagara.
Between June and August 2025, the OPP reported receiving multiple accounts of rocks being intentionally thrown at moving vehicles from the roadside or from overpasses.
The incidents occurred along Highway 406 between Westchester Avenue and Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines; on the QEW near Mountain Road in Niagara Falls; and on Highway 58 near Pine Street in Thorold.
The OPP noted that these actions led to cracked windshields for several drivers back in 2025.
In a related case, rocks were also frequently hurled at cars on Highway 48 in Markham, leading to an accident that seriously injured two individuals in 2024. Two teenagers were charged as a result.
Previously, Al-Zubaidi had been arrested and charged in September 2025 with nine counts of mischief endangering life regarding incidents occurring throughout the Niagara Region.
The investigation is ongoing by the Niagara OPP, supported by the OPP Highway Safety Division Crime Unit and working alongside Niagara Regional Police.
