Authorities report that a driver is dealing with several charges, including impaired operation, after their vehicle crashed into a hydro pole in Waterloo.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) received a call around 9:45 p. m. on Wednesday regarding a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Erbsville Rd. and Bisch St.

According to police, the car failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed two lanes of traffic, went off the road, and hit the pole.

The driver was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, and there were no other injuries reported.

Police indicated that both the vehicle and the hydro pole sustained considerable damage from the incident.

A 45-year-old man from Waterloo has been charged with impaired operation, dangerous driving, and stunt driving.

The regional police are urging anyone who saw the crash or has dash cam footage to contact WRPS at 519-570-9777, ext. 6399.
