Residents of Mississauga can start voting early in the upcoming municipal election beginning today.
The City of Mississauga has announced that voters don’t need to wait until election day on Oct. 26 to select their preferred candidates for mayor, 11 city council positions, and trustee roles at both school boards.
Eligible residents can cast their votes in advance at various locations throughout the city from Oct. 6 to Oct. 11. Early voting will take place at Mississauga City Hall on Oct. 6-7 and at multiple other sites from Oct. 8-11.
“Advance voting gives voters more days and more locations to cast their ballot before election day,” the city stated, emphasizing that it’s the same voting process but offered earlier for convenience. “Advance voting helps make voting easier, reduces lineups and gives voters more flexibility. If you have work, school, caregiving responsibilities, travel plans or other commitments on Oct. 26, advance voting can help you make a plan and have your say.”
For those who choose to vote on election day, they must do so at a polling location within the Mississauga ward where they reside or own property, according to city officials.
Voters participating in the upcoming election need to bring their voter notification card if they’ve received one along with one piece of acceptable identification, as per city guidelines.
A voter notification card isn’t mandatory for voting; however, “it shows your voting information and can help speed up the process,” officials noted.
Acceptable forms of identification include:
Last 30 Days: 56,626 Votes
All Time: 1,561,414 Votes
659 VOTES

The latest polls indicate a competitive race for mayor
<p According to recent polling data, it seems that the closely watched mayoral race in Mississauga is wide open with just under three weeks left until election night.
Two out of three recent polls show former mayor Bonnie Crombie holding slight leads over current Mayor Carolyn Parrish while another poll indicates that Parrish is ahead by nine points over her predecessor.
Councillors Alvin Tedjo and Dipika Damerla are also prominent candidates among the fourteen running for mayor.
Apart from these three latest surveys regarding the mayorship, an INSAUGA Canada head-to-head poll conducted last week revealed that Parrish garnered considerably more support than Crombie among participants responding about their preferences in the upcoming Mississauga elections.
The poll posed this question: Who will you vote for as Mississauga mayor?
A total of 1,000 votes were recorded with 628 respondents (62.8 percent) selecting Parrish compared to Crombie’s tally of 372 votes (37.2 percent).
This particular poll was focused solely on comparing Parrish and Crombie without considering other candidates vying for mayoral position.
Parrish took office as mayor after Crombie stepped down in early 2024
Crombie vacated her role as Mayor of Mississauga in early 2024 after serving ten years to lead Ontario Liberals while attempting to unseat Premier Doug Ford.
Latterly, Parrish secured her position through a byelection held in June 2024 against notable contenders including Tedjo, Damerla and Ward 1 Councillor Stephen Dasko.
The two main candidates have previously faced off during a tense municipal campaign leading up to next year’s elections; notably Crombie had bested Parrish (2,479 votes versus her opponent’s count of 2,239) during a September byelection back in September 2011 for Ward 5 council seat.
