Environment Canada has removed its air quality warning shortly after 10:00 a. m. on Sunday morning.
The warning had been in place since early in the week when smoke from forest fires in northwestern Ontario drifted south, reaching parts of the northern United States. The air quality rating from Environment Canada peaked at 10+ (indicating very high risk) and was still at that level as recently as Saturday morning.
After a full day of improving conditions, the yellow warning has now been completely lifted.
As of 11:30 a. m. on Sunday, the live rating on Environment Canada’s scale is now reported as a 2, indicating “low risk” conditions. This is significantly lower than the forecasted maximum of up to a 4 rating from Environment Canada’s predictive index released this morning.
