The Tillsonburg Thunder senior hockey team has committed to backing the local Hockey 4 Everyone program.

Mike Holly, who is the president of the Thunder, set up an exhibition game featuring the Flying Fathers and Thunder alumni players on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 3:30 p. m. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 3212.

All funds raised will go to Hockey 4 Everyone, a collaborative effort between the Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club and Club Oxford Hockey. This program has been active in Tillsonburg for over a decade.

The initiative offers equipment, ice time, and coaching for local boys and girls in grades 2 to 8 who aren’t already involved in organized hockey. It takes place Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7 a. m. to 8 a. m., running for three months starting in January. Several local teachers volunteer their time to help make this happen.

Hockey 4 Everyone also covers the registration fees for Spring League three-on-three hockey for participants looking to gain more experience during April and May.

If you want your children to join, please fill out a permission form that can be found at the front desk of the Tillsonburg Community Centre.

Equipment fitting will occur in the Lion’s Den at the community centre on Friday, Dec. 27, from 6 p. m. to 9 p. m., and Saturday, Dec. 28, from 9 a. m. to 1 p. m.

On-ice sessions are set to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and Thursday, Jan. 9. There are no costs associated with equipment, ice time or instruction.

Parents will need to arrange transportation for their children to get them to the arena as well as back to school after on-ice sessions.
