A man from Tillsonburg lost his life in a single-vehicle accident south of Ingersoll after colliding with a concrete bridge embankment on Monday morning, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 9 a. m. regarding the crash on Mount Elgin Road at Culloden Line, located south of Ingersoll.

Officers from the OPP Oxford detachment, along with firefighters and paramedics, arrived promptly.

Investigators reported that a pickup truck went off the road and struck a concrete bridge embankment.

The driver, a 73-year-old man from Tillsonburg, was found with critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk in a social media update.

Mount Elgin Road is expected to stay closed between Culloden Line and Dereham Line for six to eight hours while officers continue their investigation, Sanchuk mentioned.

Drivers are advised not to go around road closure signs until the investigation wraps up, he added.

If anyone has information related to this incident, they are encouraged to reach out to police at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through their website at ontariocrimestoppers. ca.

Fentanyl, pills and cash seized in downtown probe

Windsor police confiscated fentanyl, prescription pills and almost $4,000 in cash while arresting a 37-year-old man accused of street-level drug trafficking.

The investigation began after an alert community member informed patrol officers around 11:30 a. m. on June 18 about suspected drug sales occurring in the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue.

The suspect had left before officers could make an arrest; however, they managed to get a description of him.

A few hours later, officers noticed someone matching that description in the 100 block of Wyandotte Street East and allegedly witnessed hand-to-hand transactions indicative of street-level drug dealing.

The suspect was taken into custody without any issues.

Police seized 123.7 grams of fentanyl, 34 hydromorphone tablets, 93 clonazepam tablets, $3,875 in cash, a digital scale, debt lists and packaging materials from him.

The suspect now faces three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
