Friday marked another significant day in B. C. politics.
Eight former members of the B. C. Conservatives have joined the new Centre BC party, now led by Peter Milobar, who was just announced as its leader. Mike Bernier stepped down to let Milobar take over as the head of the united group.
This change comes amidst ongoing turmoil within the B. C. Conservatives. Three MLAs were expelled from the opposition party, increasing the total number of departures under Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s leadership to 12.
The big question on everyone’s mind: will there be an election, and if so, when will it happen?
Premier David Eby avoided answering that question during his speech at the Union of B. C. Municipalities, stating only, “I don’t have any announcements to make about an election today.”
