With election day approaching on Sept. 3, Elections Ontario says voters in three provincial ridings still have the chance to participate.

As of now, 4,848 voters (or 4.4 per cent of those registered) in the York-Simcoe riding have already voted ahead of the byelection on Sept. 3.

In comparison, 7,463 voters (or 7.2 per cent of those eligible) participated early in the riding during the 2025 general election.

York-Simcoe is one of three ridings contested across the province this week. Preliminary numbers also show that 4,746 voters (or 5.1 per cent) in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and 4,352 voters (or 5.2 per cent) in Scarborough Southwest have cast their votes so far. In the previous general election held in 2025, there were 5,467 early voters (or 6.1 per cent) in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and 4,061 early votes (or five per cent) in Scarborough Southwest.

With election day nearing, residents in these areas can still make their voices heard by voting at their local election office until Sept. 2.

Those planning to vote on Sept. 3 are advised to check their assigned polling location beforehand by entering their postal code into the Voter Information Service at elections. on. ca or by downloading the Elections Ontario app or checking their Voter Information Card that has been sent out to all registered voters within these ridings.

The Voter Information Cards aim to simplify things on election day but aren’t mandatory for voting. Any Canadian citizen aged 18 or older as of Sept. 3 and residing within the three ridings can vote in these byelections.

You can find more details about when and where to vote, what forms of identification are accepted, and a list of candidates at elections. on. ca.

Key dates for voting:

Until Sept. 2 – Vote before election day at your local elections office or request a home visit until 6 p. m. on Sept. 2. Until Sept. 2 – Use assistive voting technology available at your local election office; it’s also accessible by appointment on election day. Sept. 3 – Cast your ballot on election day from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m.; check voterinformationservice. elections. on. ca for your designated location. Sept. 3 – Mail-in ballots must be received by Elections Ontario by 6 p. m. to count towards results.

Political advertising and survey guidelines:

Sept. 2 and 3 – A blackout period for political advertising is active during these days. Sept. 3 – Election surveys that haven’t been publicly shared can’t be released from midnight until after polls close at 9 p. m.

Elections Ontario is an impartial agency tasked with overseeing provincial elections, byelections, and referenda.
