The Friends of Stittsville Wetlands, part of the Nature Network, are teaming up with Ontario Nature to promote an exciting tour happening in Ottawa on September 15, 2026. This event features the renowned Inuk singer-songwriter Susan Aglukark – a JUNO award-winning artist who uses her music to share her journey growing up in Nunavut and highlight the struggles faced by northern communities and Indigenous youth.
Special guest Terra Lightfoot (only in Ottawa) – is a JUNO and Polaris Music Prize-nominated roots-rock artist now based in Haliburton. Terra actively volunteers with Turtle Guardians to protect our turtle friends.
Across Ontario, communities are dealing with increasing challenges as lands, waters, and wildlife face more pressure from development, resource extraction, and changes in policies that weaken environmental protections and limit meaningful dialogue. Indigenous communities often feel these impacts first and play a crucial role in defending nature for future generations.
The ‘Together for Nature Tour’ launch in Ottawa provides a chance for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples to unite their voices for nature across Ontario and advocate for all living things.
This tour aims to create a platform where Indigenous land defenders and youth leaders can share what’s going on in their homelands, why it matters, and how communities throughout Ontario can collaborate to support nature, Indigenous rights, and build a healthier future for everyone.
