A big outdoor comedy festival that was set to draw thousands to Mississauga’s Erindale Park this weekend has been cancelled, just days before it was supposed to kick off.
Ward 7 Councillor Dipika Damerla shared the news on social media Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 8), stating that the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival will not take place as originally planned.
“We are sorry to share that the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Mississauga will not be happening as planned. After careful consideration, the team has made the difficult decision to postpone our show scheduled for September 11th-13th, 2026,” organizers said in a statement.
“We know there was a lot of excitement around the show, but our priority is to deliver the best possible festival, and we believe that postponing this week’s performance is the right decision to ensure we can do that. We’re exploring new dates and will be back with an update as soon as we have one. If you’ve purchased tickets, please stay tuned as we’ll be following up directly.”
The festival was set to make its Mississauga debut at Erindale Park, featuring five shows with some of North America’s top comedy acts.
Friday night’s opening show was supposed to feature John Mulaney, Stavros Halkias, Fred Armisen and James Austin Johnson.
Saturday’s lineup included Adam Ray as Dr. Phil Live, Ms. Pat, T. J. Miller, Jeff Arcuri, Brad Williams and Grace O’Malley; while Sunday featured Matt Mathews, Jordan Jensen, Katherine Blanford, Hasan Minhaj, Ronny Chieng and Michael Kosta.
The festival had been promoted as a significant new event for Mississauga with organizers anticipating around 12,500 attendees for each of the five shows.
The city had also made preparations for an influx of visitors. Portions of Erindale Park were set to be fenced off starting Sept. 6; parking lots were closed and temporary access changes would remain until Sept. 16 for event setup and takedown.
