Canadian tariffs against the United States officially began at midnight on Tuesday.
The new measures will affect $27.6 billion worth of American products, including dairy items, plywood, and sunscreen.
Just hours before the counter-tariff deadline, U. S. President Trump threatened to prohibit sales of products from Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier.
The company responded late Monday, stating it supports tens of thousands of jobs across 47 states.
Canada’s retaliatory tariffs follow the breakdown of trade discussions between the two countries in late August. There are no additional negotiations planned.
