Labour Day Closures in Hamilton

Many municipal services in Hamilton have changed their schedules, with some closures for Labour Day.

Here are some schedule updates to remember in Hamilton:

Closed Municipal services

City hall Hamilton’s Accessible Transportation Services and HSR customer services will be closed for the weekend, except for HSR’s phone line, which will still be available during the holiday Housing Services Office Provincial Offences Court Public libraries (including the Sunday on Labour Day weekend)Public museums Farmers’ market in Jackson Square Recreation centres and arenas Animal Services office and shelter Seniors centres Tropical Greenhouse at Gage Park Ontario Works program

Health services

Hamilton parking and transit

Apart from special events and areas of interest, Hamilton’s regular parking enforcement officers will not be active from Sept. 6 at 10 p. m. to September 7 at 10 p. m.

The Monday schedule for HSR, Waterdown’s My Ride and Trans-Cab will run on its Sunday schedule instead, with HSR’s last departures around midnight.

No HSR service will operate for route 12 Wentworth and 42 Mohawk East, with midnight as the final departures.

DARTS specialized transit service will cancel subscription trips except for dialysis passengers. They ask you to book any necessary trips in advance for Monday.

Grocery, liquor stores

Most grocery stores – including Fresh Co, Sobeys, Cost Co, and Fortinos – will be closed on Labour Day. However, folks in Hamilton can still shop at Nations Fresh Food ethnic grocery store.

LCBO locations in Hamilton will also close on Labour Day following Ontario’s Retail Business Holidays Act.

Waste, mail collection

No waste collection will happen on Monday; instead, curbside pickup will take place a day later than residents’ usual schedule for that week.

The transfer stations and community recycling centres will also remain closed for the day.

Canada Post won’t operate on Monday either, along with UPS stores.
