London police, along with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have set up a dedicated tip line for anyone who has information that might help in an ongoing fraud investigation related to London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
The London Police Service (LPS) began its investigation in October 2024 after receiving reports of fraudulent financial activities at the hospital. Due to the investigation’s complexity, the OPP’s Serious Fraud Office is now involved.
“We remain fully committed to this investigation and value the continued partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Serious Fraud Office,” said Det. Supt. Sean Travis of the LPS criminal investigations division.
“Shared expertise and investigative collaboration are essential in advancing this complex file. We also encourage anyone with information to come forward, as even the smallest detail may assist investigators.”
Shortly after starting their investigation, it was revealed that LHSC had filed two lawsuits against five former executives, a contractor, and several companies that were hired for work at the hospital.
The lawsuits total over $60 million and claim that some executives were aware of the scheme but chose not to intervene. One of the claims ties more than 60 “suspicious properties,” valued at nearly $20 million, to three individuals allegedly involved in this scheme. These properties were acquired after multimillion-dollar contracts were awarded by the hospital.
If you have any information regarding this investigation, please reach out to the dedicated tip line at 1-844-677-9413, contact London Police Service at (519) 661-5670, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. You can also send information online anonymously through London Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
