FILE – OPP detachment sign.
An officer from Southern Georgian Bay is now facing six charges, which include three counts of sexual assault, after an inquiry by the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
According to the SIU, there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a member of the detachment committed criminal acts between August 2024 and October 2025.
The investigation started when the Ontario Provincial Police informed the SIU on February 6, 2026, about an allegation of sexual assault involving an officer and a woman. During their probe, the SIU discovered additional allegations concerning two more women.
