“Big” Louis Zanotti
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Pietro Zanotti, who left us peacefully on the morning of July 28, 2026 at the Hospice of Windsor after bravely fighting cancer for four years. He was just 64 years old.
Lou was a loving husband to Josephine Zanotti (née Sangiorgio) for 41 wonderful years and a proud father to Joseph (Nicole), Alexandria (Mark), and Patrick (Mickaila). His greatest joy came from being “Nonno” to William (10), Claire (8), Vivienne (6), Margaret (6), and Genevieve (4). He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another grandchild.
He will be fondly missed by his brother, Fr. Richard Zanotti, his sister Bruna Pinard (Claude), and his brother Ernie Zanotti. He is also remembered by his sisters-in-law Angela Randazzo (Carmelo) and Antonietta Grillo (Enzo), along with many nephews, nieces, extended family members, and countless friends; especially Sue & Joe Sirianni, and Laura & Kirk Barbesin.
Lou dedicated three decades to Ford Motor Company of Canada as a pipefitter. Outside of work, music was one of his great loves. Since 1983, he was the heart and soul of Big Louie and the Band, spreading happiness, laughter, and creating lasting memories at weddings, parties, and dance floors all around the area. If you ever caught Lou in action, you probably remember his smile, energy, and how he could unite people through music.
Above everything else, Lou adored his family, valued his friends deeply, and lived a life rich in generosity, humor, and music. His spirit carries on in all the lives he influenced, the songs he sang passionately, and the family he cherished so much.
Our family wants to express our sincere gratitude to the amazing staff at Hospice of Windsor as well as Met Hospital Cancer Clinic for their compassionate care throughout Lou’s journey.
The visitation will occur at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – South Chapel (3048 Dougall Ave., Windsor On 519-253-7236) on Monday August 3, 2026 from 2-5pm & 7-9pm. Vigil prayers are scheduled for 8:30pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at Assumption Church (2735 University Ave West.) on Tuesday August 4, 2026 at 11:00am officiated by Fr. Richard Zanotti. Entombment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations in memory of Lou can be made to The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc., or the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre if desired by the family.
Thank you to everyone who has shown their love through prayers and support during this tough time. We know Lou will be remembered fondly with smiles, stories shared over time, and songs that keep playing in our hearts for many years ahead.
Rest peacefully now Dad. We love you more than words can say , and your music will always live on within us.
