St. Catharines Man Faces Murder Charge

St. Catharines Man Faces Murder Charge

On Aug. 7 at around 11:50 a. m., officers responded to an address on Lakeshore Road in the City of St Catharines for an assault call for service. (Mark Rosario/CHCH News)

Niagara police have charged a man with second-degree murder after another man suffered severe injuries and died.

On Friday, around 11:50 a. m., officers were dispatched to a location on Lakeshore Road in St. Catharines regarding an assault.

Upon arrival, investigators found a male victim who had sustained traumatic injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

34-year-old Brandon Marzec from St. Catharines was found at a nearby residence and subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities report that the suspect also had an injury and was transported to the hospital.

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been alerted and has begun their investigation.

Marzec is currently in custody and is set to appear for a bail hearing on Saturday at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
