DRYDEN – An Ottawa resident is facing charges related to drug trafficking and proceeds of crime after being pulled over during a traffic stop in Dryden.

Authorities claim that officers found suspected cocaine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone, as well as Canadian cash and items linked to drug dealing.

Traffic Stop Results in Search Warrant

Officers from the Dryden OPP stopped a vehicle on Whyte Avenue just after 1 p. m. CDT on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The investigation was carried out by the Dryden Community Street Crime Unit with help from OPP teams in Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, and the North West Region Emergency Response Team, leading to an arrest.

Later, police searched a property in the 100 block of Grand Trunk Avenue where they reportedly found more suspected drugs, money, and evidence related to trafficking.

Dylan Minoli, 27, from Ottawa, is charged with:

Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 Two counts of failing to comply with a release order Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking Possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking

Understanding the Charges – What Do They Mean?

Being charged with possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 could lead to a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if prosecuted by indictment. Failing to comply with a release order can result in up to two years in jail if indicted.

Possessing a Schedule I substance for trafficking is against the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and could result in life imprisonment. The actual sentences will depend on several factors like the amount of drugs involved, the accused’s role in them, their criminal history, and other circumstances that may affect sentencing.

Minoli was held in custody awaiting his court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Dryden.

Anyone who has information about suspected drug activity can reach out to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.

The charges have not been proven in court. Minoli is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
