A teenager is now facing charges related to a shooting that happened in Oshawa.
Today, Durham police reported that a 17-year-old boy from Oshawa was taken into custody in Bowmanville, weeks after a 20-year-old man was shot.
According to the police, around 3 p. m. on Sunday, June 14, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Ritson Road North and Pentland Street. In a news release, police mentioned that when they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
The suspect was identified following “an extensive investigation” and was arrested on July 30.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was under weapons prohibition conditions, according to authorities.
The teen, who cannot be named due to his age, faces charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm, failing to comply with probation terms and more.
He has been held for a bail hearing.
The charges have not yet been proven in court.
This news comes just one day after Durham police announced another youth facing charges related to an alleged violent incident.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested earlier this week after another youth was stabbed at an Oshawa Mc Donald’s restaurant on Tuesday evening.
The suspect in that case was located at his home in Oshawa and taken into custody without any issues. Investigators later executed a search warrant at his residence where they discovered the knife believed to be used in the attack.
