Young Man Faces Drug Charges in Kitchener

A 22-year-old man from Kitchener, Ziyad Shiekhai, has been charged with drug trafficking following an investigation by Windsor police. On a recent Friday, police were alerted to suspicious drug activity within a restaurant’s washroom near Goyeau Street and University Avenue in Windsor. After reviewing video surveillance and speaking with witnesses, officers were able to identify a suspect. Shiekhai was later found near the intersection of Park Street and Pelissier Street.

Upon being approached by police, he allegedly attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. The police report states that roughly 55 grams of suspected cocaine, along with other controlled substances, were seized during a search post-arrest. Additionally, authorities confiscated over $1,300 in cash, a pocketknife, a digital scale, and two cell phones. Shiekhai now faces serious charges of possession of a Schedule 1 substance with intent to traffic.
