This Saturday, the volunteer-run Santa Claus Parade in Tillsonburg will feature 36 floats, kicking off at 11:00 a. m. sharp.
TILLSONBURG – Santa Claus is set to arrive in Tillsonburg on Saturday.
The parade, organized by volunteers, includes 36 floats such as the Heart FM community cruiser and will conclude with Santa and Mrs. Claus making an appearance. Tillsonburg Firefighters will also be gathering food donations for the Helping Hands Food bank.
Co-organizer Cathy Lynn Doyle-Ryan mentions that the parade will begin at 11:00 a. m. sharp.
“The floats will meet at the Avondale Church parking lot, we will be starting on Brock and then going to Broadway, which is the main road and we turn at the Kelsey’s there, go past Canadian Tire, down around the bend and then loop back around to the church. It is like a circle, Broadway Street and the Mall Parking lot are good places to set up shop for the parade.”
This event coincides with Rogers Hometown Hockey weekend, featuring activities all weekend long at the arena. The entire parade has been organized with great effort by local volunteers. Initially scheduled for early December, they were later informed they could join in with Rogers Hometown Hockey’s parade; however, now it will just be a standalone Santa Claus parade.
Doyle-Ryan shared that they managed to pull together this whole event in less than three weeks.
“I’ll be ready to sleep when this is all over. Our group chat is non-stop; we still have people messaging who want to be part of the parade. It was an immense amount of planning; we have been very busy.”
