Paul Douglas Ranson passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 11, 2026, with his wife by his side.
He is fondly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Bev; his children Ray and Jan, Leanne and Paul; his grandchildren Mallory and Dave, Alexis and Kiefer, Eric, Katie, Matt and Kirsten; and his great-grandchildren Blake and Jakko.
Born in Port Perry, Ontario, Paul served a 3-year tour of duty in the Canadian Army, 2nd Signals, where he received an honorable discharge. He enjoyed sharing stories from his army days.
Paul was passionate about creating experiences for young people through Drum Corps. He dedicated countless hours to the activity as an instructor, manager, director, and founder.
In 1973, Paul started The Ambassadors Drum & Bugle Corps in the Aurora-Newmarket area. This initiative provided hundreds of local youths the chance to shape their lives and build lasting memories.
He held many roles over the years as contest director for both the Ontario Drum Corps Association and the Canadian Drum Corps Association.
Some of Paul’s happiest moments were spent sitting in a camp chair by a soccer field or baseball diamond or at a concert hall cheering for his grandchildren.
In his quiet yet determined manner, Paul has made an impact on many lives. As you read this message, take a moment to recall a time when Paul did or said something that resonated with you. Offer a silent “thank you” for sharing life with him.
