The Ministry of Natural Resources’ Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services reported that there were 16 new fire starts in northwestern Ontario on Friday.
This brought the total number of active fires to 128, with 33 classified as not under control, seven being held, four under control, and 84 currently being monitored.
Among the new fires is Sioux Lookout 106 (SLK106), situated near Big Trout Lake, about five kilometres south of Jackfish Bay.
Sioux Lookout 107 (SLK107) can be found near Stanzhikimi Lake, roughly two kilometres south of Highway 516. This fire is measured at 0.1 hectares and is under control.
Sioux Lookout 108 (SLK108) is positioned south of Savant Lake, approximately 14 kilometres east of Highway 599. The fire spans 0.1 hectares and remains uncontrolled.
Sioux Lookout 109 (SLK109) is located near Highway 599, about one kilometre east of Willow Lake. This fire is also not under control and measures at 0.1 hectares.
Sioux Lookout 110 (SLK110) can be found on an island at the southern end of Lac Seul; it covers an area of 0.1 hectares and remains uncontrolled.
Dryden 55 (DRY055) sits close to Highway 17, around four and a half kilometres northeast of West Grit Lake. This fire measures at 0.1 hectares and is currently under control.
Dryden 56 (DRY056) is also near Highway 17, roughly four kilometres northeast of Kay Lake. This uncontrolled fire spans over an area of 0.1 hectares.
Dryden 57 (DRY057) can be found close to Shikag Lake, about thirty-four kilometres east of Highway 599; this fire has a size of approximately 0.1 hectares and remains uncontrolled.
Dryden 58 (DRY058), situated about one kilometre south of Phyllis Lake and fifteen kilometers southwest of Highway 17, covers an area measuring at around.1 hectares and remains out of control.
Dryden59 (DRY059) lies north of Little Harry Lake, approximately four kilometres south from Aylsworth Lake; this.1-hectare fire is currently being held in check.
