Former Kitchener, Ont., neurologist Jeffrey Sloka has trial dates set for early next year as he faces two new sexual assault charges that are separate from his April trial, where he was found not guilty of other allegations.
The recent charges relate to claims made about incidents in 2011 and 2013. The complainants’ identities are protected by a publication ban.
One complainant says they were sexually assaulted between August 2011 and February 2013, according to court documents obtained by in May.
A second complainant states that the sexual assault occurred in June 2013.
His trial proceedings are scheduled for January, with additional dates set for three days in February.
Crown appealing acquittals
At the same time, Crown prosecutors are appealing Justice Craig Parry’s decision from April 24 to clear Sloka of 48 counts of sexual assault.
The Crown is seeking a new trial and wants the acquittals overturned.
Allegations against Sloka first came to light in 2017 while he was treating patients for various issues like migraines and head injuries.
In 2019, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario revoked his medical license.
During the spring trial, witnesses testified that Sloka asked patients to undress so he could conduct physical or skin exams, which included breast and pelvic examinations.
Patients shared experiences of what they described as unnecessary exams and touching. Sloka also took the stand in his own defense, denying the accusations or claiming they were necessary parts of a medical examination.
