UPDATE:
Barrie police are asking for assistance from the public as they investigate the robbery that occurred on Tuesday at the Michael Hill jewelry store located in the Georgian Mall.
Residents near Mc Veigh Drive, Cundles Road West, and Leacock Drive are encouraged to check their home surveillance and dash camera footage recorded between 6 p. m. and 7 p. m. on March 17, 2026.
“Investigators are especially interested in any footage showing a group of young males in those areas whose appearance and clothing may match descriptions of the suspects,” police stated in a news release on Thursday.

Hammers were swinging as display cases shattered during a robbery at the jewelry store inside Georgian Mall.
Barrie police reported receiving several calls around six o’clock Tuesday evening about masked individuals breaking display cases with hammers and taking merchandise. Witnesses saw four suspects believed to be young men in their late teens or early twenties fleeing in a dark sedan traveling along Bayfield Street.
Upon arrival at Michael Hill jewelry store, officers found considerable damage done to multiple display cases. Glass fragments were scattered throughout the shop and into the nearby mall corridor. Some jewelry was also discovered lying on the floor.
