Donna Carol Taylor (nee Lauzon), age 75, of Sarnia, passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 9, 1950, in Sarnia, Ontario, Donna dedicated her life to music as a teacher, judge, and a key member of the church and music community.
She began playing the organ and piano at Bethel Pentecostal in Wallaceburg when she was just 12. After moving to Sarnia, she played at Parker Street United Church and later at Canon Davis Memorial Anglican Church before finally retiring. With her talent for bringing music to life and a spirit focused on worship, she made significant contributions to the spiritual lives of many congregants. From Easter hymns to Christmas preludes and countless quiet Sunday services. Donna was passionate about teaching young organists and pianists. However, nothing made her happier than performing with her daughter Lora during their famous duets. She collaborated with various organizations such as the Polysar Glee Club, Bluewater Musical Productions, Sursum Corda, Georgian Singers and served as past President of the Lambton County Music Festival while being involved with the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association.
She was predeceased by her husbands Ronald Sturdevant and Bill Taylor along with her sister Roberta (Pete) Degraffe. She will be dearly missed by her children Martin Sturdevant, Lora (Chris) Stevens, Ann Maitland and Steve Taylor. She is survived by her brother Richard (Arelene) Lauzon.
Donna was a loving grandmother to Keegan Maitland and Chloe Taylor. Her nieces/nephews; Deborah Sturdevant, Trevor Sturdevant, Jennifer Lauzon, Michelle Sweeney as well as great-nieces and nephews Sarah Sweeney, Abby Anderson and Caden Anderson will also miss her greatly.
She was also a beloved pet mom to George the parrot along with dogs Rug and Beauty and Jasper the cat.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, July 27, 2026 at 12:00 noon from D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Ltd (102 Victoria Street North, Sarnia Ontario N7T 5W9), with visitation two hours prior to service time. Interment of ashes will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
