Durham police report that a 68-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle in a parking lot in Pickering on Saturday.
In a news release on Sunday, the Durham Regional Police Service stated they were called to the parking lot at 1105 Kingston Road shortly after 10 p. m.
According to Durham police, a black Ford SUV was navigating through the parking lot when it collided with the pedestrian. The man became trapped under the vehicle for a period of time.
Officers managed to lift the car and provided life-saving assistance, but unfortunately, he later died from his injuries at the scene, as reported by Durham police.
The driver of the Ford SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
Roads around the area were closed for several hours while an investigation into the incident continues, according to police.
