OPP reports that a driver was saved after their vehicle hit a guard rail and ended up in Guelph Lake.
Emergency services were alerted on Wednesday around 10:30 a. m. following reports that a sedan had veered off Wellington Rd. 124 and was sinking in the lake.
Authorities say several Good Samaritans quickly came to help the driver, who was trapped inside the submerged car.
“We are incredibly proud of the heroic actions shown by these community members in a neighbour’s time of need,” said Wellington County OPP in a social media post. “Thanks to their courage and willingness to help, a life was saved today.”
After reaching shore, the driver was examined by paramedics and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators reportedly found damage to a nearby guard rail and determined no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Wellington County OPP continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
This incident follows another single-vehicle crash about a month ago where a driver was rescued from Guelph Lake, which led to charges for that motorist.
