The Ontario government is allocating $1,037,100 this year to non-profit organizations, municipalities, and First Nation communities in Simcoe North through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) capital grant stream. This funding will enhance community spaces, broaden access to local programs and activities, and ensure that residents can continue to enjoy the services and facilities that make Simcoe North a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

“Local non-profit organizations are key to what makes Simcoe North such a lively and caring place to live. They bring people together through programs, recreation, culture, and community services,” said Jill Dunlop, MPP for Simcoe North. “I’m excited that 11 organizations across Simcoe North will benefit from over $1 million through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital Grant stream. This support will allow them to enhance the spaces where residents gather, learn, and connect. These investments will create safer, more accessible facilities that can serve our communities for years ahead. Congratulations to all recipients for their incredible work in improving quality of life for those in Simcoe North.”

OTF’s Capital grant stream assists organizations in upgrading their infrastructure so they can keep providing essential programs and services that Ontarians need. Whether it involves acquiring equipment or constructing new spaces or making renovations or repairs, these grants support projects that are positively impacting Simcoe North.

Organizations receiving funding in Simcoe North include:

La Clé d’la Baie en Huronie Midland Bay Sailing Club Orillia Lawn Bowling Club VOX Huronia Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 Orillia Camp Couchiching Child Advocacy Centre of Simcoe Muskoka Chippewas of Rama First Nation Orillia Rowing Club Royal Canadian Legion Branch 270 Coldwater Ontario Township of Ramara

The Capital grant stream is part of the government’s strategy to enhance Ontario by investing in community infrastructure while supporting local organizations and fostering long-term economic growth.

“Non-profit groups throughout Ontario deliver vital programming that helps individuals train for new careers, remain active, acquire new skills, and connect with their communities,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Our investment will help modernize these spaces so they can continue offering the services that strengthen communities and stimulate local economic development.”

Quotes

“We sincerely thank TFO for this generous support which allows La Clé d’la Baie en Huronie to undertake an important capital improvement project at our community hub located at 63 Main Street in Penetanguishene. This funding will significantly improve the accessibility, safety, and visibility of our 10,267 sq. ft. facility which serves over 1,200 individuals annually through eight essential programs targeting families, seniors, youth, and newcomers.

This support enables us to repair the main entrance concrete stairs; build a new code-compliant accessibility ramp; fully restore six exterior awnings ensuring safe year-round access; plus install a modern digital LED sign which enhances our community communications outreach.

These upgrades not only extend the lifespan of a critical infrastructure asset but also reinforce an important francophone cultural space within a rural minority context-lowering participation barriers while promoting ongoing community engagement without other available municipal or provincial funding options.” – Tina-Anne Thibideau. Directrice générale , La Clé d’la Baie en Huronie
