Last Wednesday’s Canada Day festivities at Memorial Park sparked a lot of discussion among Tillsonburg residents.

The Town of Tillsonburg released information regarding the concerns that arose.

According to staff, the Bandshell was rented out to an individual who had hired a DJ, but unfortunately, inappropriate language (which doesn’t align with the Town’s values) was used.

Additionally, during the fireworks show, the computer system that controlled the ignitions and timing malfunctioned. Despite the operator’s attempts to fix it, the display ended much sooner than intended.

The contractor has taken responsibility for what happened and has agreed to put on a “makeup” fireworks show on Labour Day, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 6th. More details will be provided as the event approaches.

The Town is committed to ensuring all entertainment at family-friendly events will be suitable for all ages on Town property and is excited about what’s planned for Labour Day.
